Prof. İlke Göçmen

İlke Göçmen is the Head of the Department of EU Law at Ankara University Faculty of Law. He previously served as the Director of the Ankara University European Union Research Centre and as the Editor of the Ankara Review of European Studies. He has been a visiting post-doctoral researcher at Leiden University’s Europa Institute and a visiting professor at Saarland University’s Europa-Institut. He has extensive research and publication experience in EU law, encompassing both its institutional and substantive dimensions, as well as the legal aspects of EU–Türkiye relations. His academic achievements have been recognised through distinguished scholarships, fellowships, and awards, including the Jean Monnet Scholarship Programme, the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation’s Georg Forster Research Fellowship, and an award for scholarly excellence for his book The Foundations of European Union Law. From 2019 to 2022, he held a Jean Monnet Chair for his project titled Legal Issues in Turkey–European Union Relations. More recently, his research has focused on sustainable development in the context of international trade and investment law.
