Prof. Ademun Odeke

Ademun-Odeke is a: holder of an LLM and a PhD, Institute of Maritime Law, Southampton University; Lloyds of London-US/UK Fulbright Scholar; a Emeritus Professor of International Maritime Law and Policy, Ankara University; Special Advisor and Leading Researcher, National Centre for the Sea and Maritime Law (DEHUKAM); and Visiting Professor with teaching experiences at UK, North American, European, African and Turkish Universities.

He worked in banking, insurance, shipping, port management and the UN (IMO(London), IAEA(Vienna) and HQRS(NY)), before returning to academia and consultancy. Author of numerous books, articles, consultancy reports and multiple conference proceedings, he is widely travelled and lived in several countries. He holds several Distinguished Academic Fellowships, International Merit Awards and Membership of International and Professional Organisations.

His consultancy assignments include training judges, prosecutors, defence and prosecuting attorneys, naval police, naval personnel, and maritime administrators in Eastern and Western Africa on the Law of the Sea and international criminal jurisdiction over pirates. His interests include Law of the Sea, Piracy, Maritime Security, Irregular Migration and Human Trafficking, International Trade Law, Marine and Export Credit Insurance, WTO Law, the Blue Economy and Anglo-America Law.

A keen rambler and amateur golfer, he loves travels, international affairs and classical music.
