Pierpaolo Petrelli

Dr. Pierpaolo Petrelli is an international lawyer and legal scholar with over a decade of experience in public international law, international criminal law, and human rights. He currently serves as Associate Professor and Associate Dean (International Internship) at O.P. Jindal Global University (India), and is a Senior Fellow at the Centre for the Study of the United Nations. He is also the Founding Director of the International Academy of International Law (IAIL), a global initiative dedicated to advancing interdisciplinary legal education and reforming international justice systems.
Dr. Petrelli’s teaching and research center on international criminal justice, transitional justice, accountability for atrocity crimes, and the evolving intersection of law, governance, and global conflict. He has led high-level academic programs to The Hague and organized international conferences on post-conflict accountability and hybrid legal mechanisms.
His recent work addresses environmental justice, corporate responsibility in conflict settings, and the design of reparations and enforcement strategies for international crimes. He regularly advises international organizations and NGOs on atrocity documentation, victim participation, and accountability frameworks.
Dr. Petrelli holds an S.J.D. and LL.M. in International Law from Case Western Reserve University, and an LL.M. in Law and Governance of the European Union from LUISS University.
