Assoc. Prof. Dr. Berk Demirkol

Berk is a founding partner of Potestas Partners which practice was relocated from London to Dubai in early 2025. He acts as counsel, arbitrator, and expert in investment treaty and international commercial arbitration cases and has over 15 years of experience in international arbitration.

Berk holds a Ph.D. in International Investment Law from the University of Cambridge. His thesis “Judicial Acts and Investment Treaty Arbitration” was published by Cambridge University Press and was awarded in 2017 the ICC World Business Law Prize. He has published numerous articles on international arbitration in leading international journals. Berk has also contributed several times to ICSID Reports providing reviews of ICSID cases.

Until November 2025, for more than 10 years, Berk held a tenured professor (docent) position at the Galatasaray University Law School in Istanbul, where he taught International Investment Law and Arbitration, International Commercial Disputes, and Private International Law.

Berk is a dual-qualified lawyer, admitted to practice in England & Wales and Turkey.
