Dr. Özge Varış

Dr. Özge Varış is a full-time assistant professor at the Kirklareli University, Faculty of Law, Turkiye. She studied for her LL.B degree at Yeditepe University, Turkey. She holds the LL.M degree from the University of Amsterdam, the Netherlands and M.A in Global Affairs from Bahcesehir University, Istanbul, Turkiye. She gained her PhD. from the University of Dundee’s Centre for Energy, Petroleum, Mineral Law and Policy (the CEPMLP), in the UK. Before her PhD, Dr. Varış worked as a qualified attorney-at-law. She was selected for the Young Scientist Award Program (BAGEP) in 2021. She won the 2021 Professor Rona Serozan Prize in Social Sciences with her research under the BAGEP. She was a fully funded visiting fellow at the University of Liverpool, UK in 2023 spring semester.
Dr. Varış also provides legal opinions and consultancy to public institutions and private companies, and teaches at different universities in Istanbul, including international energy law and sustainable development. Her research areas are international economic law, especially international investment law, European trade and investment policy and natural resources, especially energy and sustainable development.
