Kennedy Owor

Kennedy Owor is a Doctor of Laws candidate at the University of Pretoria, an advocate of the High Court of Uganda, a Lecturer of Laws at Uganda Christian University and a Legal Officer at the Refugee Law Project at Makerere University School of Law. Owor has a strong academic and professional interest in the roles of the African Union on international law, constitutionalism, human rights and good governance. As a two-time winner of the Legal Aid Innovation Challenge in 2020 and 2021, Owor is also passionate about levering technologies to enhance access to justice and protection of forced migrants. With a commitment to research, teaching and mentorship, Owor brings a practitioner’s perspective enriched by grassroots legal advocacy, litigation and community engagement. Owor is dedicated to advancing legal scholarship, practices and solutions that reflects African realities and aspirations. He believes that young people, through incubating solutions and cross-collaboration of ideas—play a critical role in shaping the future of societies—that enables Africa to overcome its development challenges. Owor enjoys traveling, participating in charity events, engaging in sports, and taking part in roundtable discussions on emerging trends and contemporary issues, all with a view of creating and finding practical solutions.
