Jens Iverson

Jens Iverson is an Assistant Professor at the Grotius Centre for International Legal Studies (part of the Law Faculty of Leiden University), and has served as a visiting professor at Vermont Law School, Santa Clara University School of Law, and University of California College of the Law, San Francisco. His research includes a monograph on transitions from armed conflict to peace, coediting three volumes published by Oxford University Press and a special edition of the Journal of World Investment & Trade, articles in top peer-reviewed journals in the U.S. and Europe and chapters in many edited volumes. He has published in many international law subjects, including international criminal law, environmental protection, international humanitarian law, history of international law, transitional justice, and human rights. He received his Ph.D from Leiden University, his Juris Doctor cum laude from the University of California, Hastings, and his Bachelor of Arts from Yale University. He is a member of the California Bar, the Thurston Society, and the Order of the Coif. He teaches International Criminal Law, Public International Law, Transitional Justice, Law and Practice of International Organizations, International Environmental Law, and International Legal Practice, including concepts from criminal law, torts, property, professional responsibility, and contracts. He has worked extensively with the Cambodian Genocide Program, the Documentation Centre of Cambodia, and the Coalition for the International Criminal Court. He practiced at the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia for over three years on both the Popović et al. and Prlić et al. cases.
