Lamis DEEK

Lamis Deek is a Palestinian internationally practicing attorney based in
New York working in the fields of civil, political, charities,
commercial, complex litigation, and sanctions and compliance law for
international companies and corporate personnel, charitable
organizations, and advises sitting and former government and party
representatives on policy, legal strategy and matters related to
Palestine. Lamis began her career on national security matters, and
litigated the early "terrorism" cases which became the caselaw
underpinning US sanctions and compliance laws. In her political and
human rights work, Lamis successfully undertook civil, financial, and
criminal litigation against unlawful civil financial forfeitures,
manufactured political charges, attempted shut downs of mosques,
unlawful surveillance and repressive government practices and helped
decode and dismantle the multi-agency secret and illegal (cia-israeli
developed) demographics surveillance unit, while mobilizing social,
media and community to secure a historic victory against illegal zionist
and government activities. Lamis crafts legislative policies for, and
advises, government actors, non-profits and civil rights groups
domestically and internationally, and has been organizing on issues
related to Palestinian rights and liberation for over two decades,
developing political program for several organizations, convening
studied Palestinian unity initiatives. Lamis is partner at Deek, Dictor,
Adi and simultaneously serves as the Director of Legal and Diplomatic
Affairs for the PAL Law Commission: On War Crimes, Justice, Reparations
and Return   In her Palestine focused legal work, Lamis has litigated
cases and crafted policies challenging anti-Palestinian state, academic
and institutional practices in the US and abroad, including securing
several legal, governmental and institutional victories against
anti-Palestinian IHRA measures in several jurisdictions, and settlement
sales, inside and outside the US. Lamis filed the first Notice and
Demand against US government officials, launched the ICJ Pro Bono Legal
Support Project which helped secure notice of intent to join the South
African case by three governments, advises governments on implementation
of domestic and international provisional measures, and directs task
forces which are preparing to file several domestic and international
complaints against key parties involved in supporting and inciting
genocide, in courts and with regulatory authorities. Lamis Deek has been
particularly dedicated to advancing the standard of Palestinian legal
theory and practice around Palestine since October 7th. She set critical
standards for post-Gaza defensive, offensive, and diplomatic measures.
Lamis established political parameters and positioned Palestinian
leadership, and demands, at the forefront of legal work and committees,
so as to protect Palestinian rights and demands in the legal domain and
to counter legal practices that have been harmful to Palestinian
liberation and return. She co-convened and set the intellectual
framework for several international legal meetings including the pivotal
international legal and strategy meeting "Advancing the Legal Front for
Palestinian Liberation," with WOLAS and defined its theoretical aims.
Lamis continues to work on implementing the meeting's program and
advancing the PAL Law  Commission's legal, legislative and diplomatic
work. She can be reached at Deek@DeekDictorAdi.com
