Fabio CRISTIANO

Fabio Cristiano is an Assistant Professor in Conflict Studies at Utrecht University in The Netherlands. He specialises in cybersecurity and the politics of technology, focusing primarily on questions related to automation and non-human agency (AI), digital rights, socio-technical knowledge production, and digital sovereignty. He has published widely on these topics, as well as on the broader relationship between conflict, warfare, and computation in Palestine and beyond. He holds a PhD in Political Science from Lund University (Sweden), where he wrote a dissertation on the politics of cyber conflict in Palestine. Prior to joining Utrecht University, he was a postdoctoral researcher and lecturer at the Institute of Security and Global Affairs at Leiden University. He is an Associate Fellow of The Hague Program on International Cybersecurity and the lead editor of Artificial Intelligence and International Conflict in Cyberspace (Routledge, 2023) and Hybridity, Conflict, and the Global Politics of Cybersecurity (Rowman & Littlefield, 2023).
